Thats the reason i hate this shows writer. He down plays the achievements of his other characters just to show that Tsubasa is always superior as he is always at some kind of disadvantage when he looses. Thats not good story telling. The only time Tsubasa got his ass wooped and was completely healthy was when he played against Santana for the 1st time, Rivaul 1st duel, 1st time against Diaz and against Natureza at different occasions. Than also he never lost he won all those games. Plot armour is too strong for Tsubasa. He gets way to much plot power to win things at the very end, while every other character works for their achievements. Writer himself is way too big of a Tsubasa fan boy. So its actually hyuga's victory to hv a draw with Tsubasa here. Fun fact is he is the only guy who has actually beat Tsubasa fair and square in a match. When they battled in their 1st game ever.

When Tsubasa faces international players he is good but he looses, unlike in show where he is not in 1st game so japan looses. When Hyuga creates neo tiger shot and beats hernandez, tsubasa work his ass off and creates neo drive shot and than wins, unlike in the story near the end of last germany game he some how turns ball around out of nowhere and scores on muller. Who was unscorable before that by anything other than neo tiger shot. So thats the version of tsubasa i love, who works his ass off and wins through that. Not like in show where every single time in a big game he gets some plot power out of nowhere in the end(pheniox drive against matsuyama, miracle drive against hyuga, ball turn overhead against germany last game in france tornament, that super natural over head against brazil in junior youth finals, etc.)
